Easter Dresses

Call me old-fashioned, but I made the girls' Easter dresses this year. I wanted them to match, and I couldn't find any I loved that I was willing to pay for, so homemade dresses it is! It's a little harder to find the time to sew these days. I'm pretty sure I worked on their outfits 30 seconds at a time...

Sew a little... Feed a baby... Sew a little... Fix chocolate milk... Sew a little... Change a diaper... Sew a little... Restart Blue's Clues...

You get the point.

Anyway, I think they turned out pretty cute! I knew I could handle Livy's dress. It was pretty simple, but I had never made a romper with snaps for Charlotte's. Neither one is perfect, so I hope no one looks too closely, but I think they'll do!

I love my girlies... They are pretty cute modeling their outfits!

Pre-Easter Fun

Our Easter might not have been ideal, but we did have some fun this weekend. Friday night, we played Go Fish with Livy Lou. She had a couple of Queens, so I told her to asked her daddy for more, and she said,
"Dad, you got any cooos(Qs)?"

Did mention Livy won?

Saturday morning we went to the egg hunt at the church. Livy racked up a basket full of goodies, but only after her pep talk from daddy. It went a little something like this, "Now Livy, I know this is fun and all, but this is a competition and I expect you to dominate in this thing..." blah, blah, blah... :)

The proud competitive father

Then we went to Nana's for lunch and hid more eggs! Nana, Gran, Aunt Lori, and Auntie Laura got tickled at Livy's hiding technique. She would scatter the eggs in different places, but if she thought one certain place was better than the rest, she would keep going back to it and adding an egg every time. By the time she was finished hiding eggs for Gran to find, she had lined up 8 eggs in one spot. She definitely provided the entertainment at Nana's that day... she sang, played the piano, danced, told us the Easter story (as according to Livy), and gave us lots of laughs.

That night, she and her daddy went to Pappy and Annie's for supper, while I went out to dinner with some friends. I'm so thankful Drew loves spending time with her and lets me slip away every now and then!

Easter Pajamas with Mama

How did our Easter go? Well, I could tell you all about how we woke up Sunday morning, ate our weekly batch of cinnamon rolls, got all dolled up in our new clothes, listened to a wonderful sermon, took the perfect Easter family portrait, and then spent the afternoon eating a delicious home cooked meal and hunting eggs with family in the beautiful sunshine... but that would be a lie.

Here's real life:

Livy went to bed Saturday night with 101.3 fever, so we knew one of us would need to stay home with her Sunday morning. Drew had to teach Sunday school and do power point for the sermon, so I stayed home. We did actually get our cinnamon rolls, but that's about the only thing that went as planned. Livy and I stayed in our pajamas all day, which was just weird. Now, I won't lie... most weekdays, if we're at home, we're in our comfy pajama pants. But pajamas all day on Easter Sunday?! Or any Sunday for that matter... it was strange. It never really felt like Easter to me. Anyway, we spent all morning in bed watching Disney Jr., then shared a frozen pizza for lunch.

Sunday night, Livy ran a super high fever and felt awful. So Monday morning, it was off to the doctor! By this time, her fever had worn off and you could hardly tell she was sick.

Who says you can't be a fashionista at the doctor's office?

She did have a nasty cough though. We were whisked over to the hospital so Livy could have a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia. I think I was more nervous than she was because I knew what was coming. I just kept picturing her being held down by a couple of nurses on a cold metal table with the x-ray machine hovering over her, all while she's screaming for me and I'm forced to stand outside the room and watch. But, it was nothing like that! All she had to do was stand up against the x-ray backdrop thingy (have no idea what that thing is called!) and the machine was several feet away from her. In fact, when the nurse told her to get ready, Livy said,
"Cheeeese!"
With the biggest smile on her face. I was so relieved!

Results came back a few hours later... it was not pneumonia, only bronchitis! Praise the Lord!

Our Easter weekend definitely didn't go how we thought it would, but guess what? Jesus is still alive! Hallelujah! And hopefully our Livy Lou is on the mend!

Not Too Happy...

Lately, Livy has transitioned herself out of having a nap time. And although I miss those couple of hours I used to have to myself, I will say she usually holds up pretty well! But with us going to the Easter party at Story Time and the circus yesterday, by the time church was over last night she was super a wee bit cranky. So when Drew was putting her in the car seat last night, he asked her if she was grouchy and this was her reply,
"Yep. I'm just not too happy anymore!"
Haha! You gotta love the honesty! Thankfully, she was asleep before we ever got home.

It would be nice if the story ended there... but it doesn't.

She stayed asleep until about midnight when she crawled in the bed with us. She was constantly moving and whining, and then the scratching started. She was scratching her back, her belly, her legs, then she even started scratching me! I finally said, "What are you doing???" And she looks at me with huge eyes and says,
"I'm trying to get the sneeze out of me!"
I don't know if she was sleep talking or if she was just delirious, but either way, it was really funny!

All dressed up for the Easter party at Story Time. Too bad she has to wear a turtle neck under her cute SPRING dress!
