Halloween Costumes

This is the first year that Livy has been old enough to really have an opinion about what she wants to be for Halloween. Normally we all dress up as a family and I just pick the theme.

2010- The Indian Family

2011- The Cupcake and The Bakers

2012- Cinderella, Prince Charming, & The Fairy Godmother

But since we're doing the Fall Festival a little differently this year, I gave Livy free reign over what she wanted to be. The adults decided we didn't care to dress up so the kids are having a costume contest.

Her infatuation with Halloween began back in September when Disney Jr. started advertising for Boo For You Halloween Fridays where all of the episodes would be Halloween themed. She got so excited and started talking about how she was "going to Ha-yo-weeen!"

Every time I would ask what she wanted to dress up as, I would get a different answer. Some of her ideas were:
  • butterfly
  • princess
  • butterfly princess
  • kitty cat
  • crab
  • Zoe (from Sesame Street)
  • dolphin
  • pink hippo
  • pink shark
  • purple giraffe
  • rainbow
  • wet tiger (a boy on Disney Jr. said he was going to be a white tiger and she thought he said wet tiger...)
I should've kept a better list because I can't even remember all of her ideas now. And boy, were some of them funny! She had the hardest time picking one idea. Sure, I could've just picked something for her and made her stick to it, but she was having such a great time using her imagination, I hated to squish her dreams!

I told her last night that we had to make a decision since the Fall Festival is this weekend. She finally decided on a rainbow, so I immediately started looking for ideas on Pinterest. I came across this one and thought it was precious! And Livy agreed.

When I woke her up this morning, I said,

"Wake up, we've got to go to Walmart to buy the stuff to make your rainbow costume!"
"Oh yea!!! Wait a minute, let me see that picture one more time. I need to make sure it has pink and purple in it."

The picture had red instead of pink so we decided to just trade it out to make her happy. We came home from Walmart, and I got my sewing machine out and got down to business. She is too excited about getting to wear her costume!

Majesty

"Mom, I'm gonna give you a kiss because you're a majesty."
"Oh, I am?"
*She kisses my hand*
"Thank you, baby."
"You're welcome, your majesty."

22 Week Check-Up

22 weeks
Heartbeat: 150
+5 lbs

I gained some weight this week, and the good news is I just now passed my pre-pregnancy weight. So overall I've only gained 4 lbs! Woo hoo!

The baby's heart rate is steadily dropping... From 163, to 153, to 150... Makes me wonder if it may be a boy? I know they say there's no correlation between heart rate and determining the gender, but it seems like all my friends who have had boys usually have lower heart rates. Guess we'll wait and see!

I'm still feeling pretty good. Baby is moving around pretty often. I had a good scare the other night though. I'm so used to feeling the baby move all throughout the day, so when Sunday night rolled around and I hadn't felt anything all day, I started to worry. I laid down flat, got really still, and waited for some movements but never felt anything. I had been super busy all day so I figured I just hadn't been still enough to feel anything. I knew everything was probably fine, but once you start thinking there could be something wrong, it's hard to shake those thoughts. When I got in bed that night, I just prayed for everything to be ok. During my prayer, I felt the slightest kick! I was so relieved. And ever since, the movements have been constant. Maybe the baby was just extra sleepy that day and needed a little more rest.

Next time I go to my appointment, I'll be 27 weeks and I get to drink the juice for the glucose test. Hard to believe in less than a month I'll be in the 3rd trimester! I really need to get started on the nursery. So far I have the fabric for the bedding, and... That's about it.

I can't wait to see that precious baby!

A Cups O'Minutes

It's no secret that Olivia and Weasel love each other, so when Weasel came to the back door a few days ago, Livy wanted to go out and visit. I opened the door, let her pet Weasel, then I told her it was time to come back inside.

"But Weasel wants to come in."
"No, Weasel needs to stay outside. She's dirty and she likes being outside."
"But she could come in for just a cups 'o minutes..."
"No sweetie, not even for a cups 'o minutes. She's too dirty to come in."

Then another night, we were all getting ready to go to bed when Livy crawled up in her daddy's lap and said,

"Can I just lay down and muggle with you for just a cups 'o minutes?"

Who can so no to a cups 'o minutes?

The Jesus Bible

A couple weeks ago Livy and I were working in her Cubbies book. In order to sign off one of her sections, we had to read the stories of Zacchaeus and Jesus feeding the 5,000.

"Livy, go get your Bible out of your room so we can read these stories."
"Which Bible?"
"You know which one. Your Bible that you always read."
"Oh you mean my Jesus Bible?"
"Yea baby."
"You mean the one with David in it?"
"Yes!"

It always amazes me how smart she is. She loves reading her Jesus Bible. She comes and tells me throughout the day,

"Mom, I'm gonna go read my Jesus Bible to my babies because they love me to read to them."

It just melts my heart.
